Bude's ward redistricting proposal set for hearing

by Sean Dunlap

The Bude Board of Aldermen will hold a public hearing at 5:30 p.m., Monday, May 1 regarding efforts to redistrict ward lines within the municipality.

Redistricting is necessary due to population shifts within Bude’s corporate limits that were measured during the 2020 Census.

“This public hearing is being held for the specific purpose of informing the public of the proposed redistricting plan and to offer the opportunity for the inspection of the plan, the redistricting map and the supporting documentation,” Town Clerk Ellisa Ford said.

The draft plan is also presently available for public inspection during regular business hours — 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday — at Bude Town Hall at 125 W. Railroad Ave.

Written comments regarding the proposal can be mailed to Town of Bude to the attention of Town Clerk Ellisha Ford, 125 W Railroad Ave, Bude, MS 39630.

Written comments received by town leaders prior to next week’s public hearing will be acknowledged and become a part of the public record.

All comments submitted will be available for public inspection.
