FC Little League opens 2023 season with host of games

The following is a summary of Franklin County youth baseball and softball results for the week of Monday, April 10 through Saturday, April 15.

SOFTBALL LEAGUE

Tuesday, April 11

Apothecare 8, Rural Rapid Response 7.

Meadville Fitness 8, Hilltop 7.

Friday, April 14

Meadville Fitness 9, Rural Rapid Response 6.

Apothecare 17, Hilltop 2.

The Softball League’s “Player of the Week” was Olivia Ballard of Meadville Fitness.

On the mound, Ballard collected 10 strike outs last week.

At the plate, she reached base on almost every at bat with a double, a triple and three RBI to her credit. Ballard also got the game-winning hit against Hilltop.

Coach Pitch Division

Tuesday, April 11

Halley Construction Braves 11, Rollins Construction LLC Pirates 0.

Southwest Electric Tigers 5, Reasor Precision Ltc. Co. Cardinals 5.

Saturday, April 15

Southwest Electric Tigers 6, Rollins Construction LLC Pirates 2.

Halley Construction Braves 3, Reasor Precision Ltc. Co. Cardinals 1 (this game was not finished due to rain and will be resumed at a later date).

The Coach Pitch Division’s “Player of the Week” was Corban Duncan of the Reasor Precision Ltc. Co. Cardinals.

He had four hits and played stellar defense at first base.

MINOR LEAGUE DIVISION

Tuesday, April 11

Enbridge Braves 11, 3B Construction and Roofing Pirates 1.

Ben Franklin Lodge Tigers 10, Jones Lumber Cardinals 8.

Friday, April 14

Enbridge Braves 12, Jones Lumber Cardinals 8.

Ben Franklin Lodge Tigers 13, 3B Construction and Roofing Pirates 5.

The Minor League Division “Player of the Week” was Blake Hunt.
On the pitcher’s mound, Hunt accounted for six strike outs in two innings. In the hitting department, he scored two runs and stroked a triple along with an inside-the-park home run.
Hunt plays for the Enbridge Braves.

MAJOR LEAGUE DIVISION

Monday, April 10

Franklin Telephone Co. Braves 6, Meadville Cardinals 4.

Thursday, April 13

Meadville Cardinals 5, Back 40 Seafood Tigers 4.

The Major League Division “Player of the Week” was Jasper Woodcock.

He had a dominating mound performance with 10 strike outs in four innings en route to giving the Franklin Telephone Co. Braves an season-opening victory.
