Bude clean-up event set for April 22

Bude’s inaugural “Earth Day Community Clean-up and Celebration” will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., on Saturday, April 22.
Coordinated by the Bude Community Foundation — in conjunction with Franklin County’s Solid Waste Department, Tri-MS Recycling Services and NextTech — the free event will provide an opportunity to dispose of non-hazardous, household waste and clutter.
The program will be held at the BCF’s Community Center (the former Bude United Methodist Church) at the corner of Third Street, Main Street and Mississippi Highway 184.
A wide-range of items — regardless of size — will be collected throughout the day, including tires, old appliances, laptops, monitors, IT equipment, keyboards, televisions and printers.
Scrap metal will also be accepted for recycling.
Volunteers will be on hand to assist people with unloading items and getting them into the proper containers.
The first 100 participants at the event will be given a free dogwood tree for planting.
Children’s activities are also planned including a large bounce house and slide along with a train ride, and will be offered at no cost.
BCF is pre-selling hamburger plates, which will be prepared on-site by Donna’s Catering.
Plates tickets can be bought from Veronica Brown, Marsha Webb or at the Community Center between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Those plates — available for $10 each — must be pre-purchased prior to Saturday, April 15.
For additional information, contact Brown by calling 601-810-9674.
