Bogue Chitto downs Diamond Dawgs, 6-3

BOGUE CHITTO — Despite seven hits, Franklin County High School’s varsity baseball team came up on the short end of a 6-3 decision to Bogue Chitto on Monday, Feb. 27.

Bogue Chitto scored two runs each in the third, fourth and fifth innings before the Bulldogs plated a lone run in the top of the sixth and two more in the top of the seventh.

Donovan Moore, Larry Pernell and Noah McCormick scored FC’s runs in the affair.

Moore went 2-of-2 at the plate for the Bulldogs with a walk while McCormick finished 2-of-4 with a strikeout and Pernell was 1-of-3 with a walk and strikeout.

Additionally, Dalton Meadows was 1-of-4 with two strikeouts and Dakota Chisholm wound up 1-of-3 with a strikeout.

Ridge Clanton, who was 0-of-4 in at-bats, was credited with two RBI, and also spent five innings on the mound for FC.

In drawing the loss, he was tagged for six runs (three of those earned) on five Bogue Chitto hits including a home run and gave up four walks.

Meadows pitched for a single inning where he surrendered no runs nor hits, struck out three and walked one.
The two teams combined for a pair of errors each in the outing.

The loss dropped the Bulldogs to 3-3 on the season.

Weather and schedule permitting, FC will be back in action in a weekend tournament in Lincoln County before playing host to West Lincoln on Tuesday, March 7 and Hazlehurst on Thursday, March 9.
