Happy Cart brings gifts to FCUE staff for Valentine's Day

The Happy Cart program shared some love — literally — in advance of the Valentine’s Day observance by distributing gifts to administrators, faculty and staffers at Franklin County Upper Elementary School last week.

“This was one of the first efforts by Happy Cart during the current school year,” organizer Angel Arnold said of her group. “Our purpose is to simply put a smile on someone’s face, and we live by Psalms 144:15, which reads, ‘Happy are the people whose God is the Lord.’”

Throughout the school year, Arnold and Happy Cart volunteers visit campuses to distribute gifts, snacks and refreshments for school district staffers to let them know they are being thought of.

She noted businesses, civic leaders and community members continue to be very generous to chip into the effort with the donation of gift items and providing financial support to keep the morale booster going.

“It’s a great opportunity to interact with the people who are with our children the better part of each day for most of the year,” Arnold continued.

“Those who work in our schools do an incredible job teaching and caring for our young people, so it’s the right thing to do to show them how greatly we appreciate the work they do.”

Arnold said she hopes to hold other recognition programs during the remaining months of the academic year.

“We want to encourage anyone that would like to become part of the Happy Cart outreach by serving as a volunteer or giving to the program to contact me at 601-297-1269,” Arnold continued.

“The more people we have involved, the more that we can do. Involvement is key to taking what we do to the next level, and we need more people to bring their energy and enthusiasm to the table.”
