Memorial services for Vickie Jo Whittington Lechler, 77, will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 21, 2023, at the Jacob Schoen and Son Funeral Home in New Orleans, La.

Visitation will be held from noon until the time of service on Saturday, Jan. 21 at the funeral home.

She was born to Paul Barney Whittington of Franklin County and Virginia Smith Whittington of Homer, La., on Nov. 26, 1945, and passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2023, at Saint Anthony’s Nursing Home in Metairie, La.

Coming from a military family which later managed movie theaters and drive-ins across the Gulf South, she grew up in many places, but lived in the New Orleans area for most of her life.

She had a great love of art and a passion for painting. For several years, she was a member of the Metairie Art Association and also served as an organizer of the Pirate’s Alley Art Show.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Curt Otto Lechler Jr. of New Orleans, La.

After the death of her husband, she moved to Meadville, where she lived for the next 20 years.

She loved her friends, her family, her dogs and working in her garden.

Survivors include her son, Christopher Lechler; her daughter-in-law, Stacey Lechler; and her beloved grandchildren, Lillian Lechler and Frank Lechler.
