MIRIAM DIANNAH HAYES BARNES

June 20, 1973 – Oct. 4, 2021

Funeral services for Miriam Diannah Hayes Barnes, 48, of Long Beach, were held Saturday, Oct. 9, 2021, at Springhill Missionary Baptist Church in Roxie.

She was born to John Kenneth and Gloria Stine Hayes on June 20, 1973, in Natchez, and passed away on Monday, Oct. 4, 2021.

Diannah attended Franklin County High School and was a member of the Class of 1991. She also attended the University of Southern Mississippi where she received a bachelor’s degree in education, and was a member of the Sigma Gamma Rho Inc., organization where she dedicated a great deal of time to community service projects.

She spent her working career in multiple school districts across South Mississippi and had an extreme passion for children. She played an ultimate motherly role in many children’s lives.

In addition, Diannah enjoyed being in the church choir, spending time with her children, teaching everyone’s children, watching movies, supporting the New Orleans Saints and conversing on Facebook.

She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Lela Mae Cameron; her father, John Kenneth Hayes; and a daughter, Brandyce Brielle Barnes.

Left to cherish her memories are her mother, Gloria Stine Hayes; her fiancé, Todd McCoy; her children, Alexis Cymone Hawthorne (Bunny Rabbit) and Cam’ron Malik Barnes (Boo Bear); her sisters, Juaitan Robinson and Kiyi Aikens; her brothers, Shawn Hayes, Kenneth LaValle Jones and LaMont Winn; a special friend, Angela Smith. her sorors of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Inc.; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
