Franklin County JV boys hoops team takes wins over Wilkinson, Amite counties

Franklin County High School’s junior varsity boys basketball team picked up a pair of wins by downing Wilkinson County, 35-17, on Friday, Jan. 6 at home and upending Amite County, 28-14, on the road Tuesday, Dec. 20.

FC 35, WILKINSON COUNTY 17

The JV Bulldogs outscored the JV Wildcats 16-9 in the first half and 19-8 after intermission.

Tyson Windom paced the FC offensive effort with nine points while teammate Quentin Logan chipped in six.

Johnathan Shell, Derrick Wilson and Rylei Edney added five apiece.

Jailan Hunt and Casey Cook scored two points each and Donovan Wilson contributed one.

FC was 8-of-13 from the free throw line with Windom and Hunt both going 2-of-2 against the Wildcats.

Eric Dyer, Logan and Donovan Wilson went 1-of-2 and Edney was 1-of-3 from the stripe.

FC 28, AMITE COUNTY 14

Franklin County went on runs of 16-7 in the first half and 12-7 after the mid-game break to defeat Amite County, 28-14.

Windom led the way with eight points as Derrick Wilson had five in the outing.

Dyer, Logan and Dennis Shell were credited with four points each for the Bulldogs.

Hunt scored two against Amite County and Johnathan Shell tacked on one.

The JV Bulldogs went to the stripe only six time against the JV Trojans and sank two of those attempts.

Windom finished 1-of-2 from the line while Johnathan Shell was 1-of-4.
