Funeral services for Mother Geneva Shorts Brown, 88, of Franklin County’s Kirby community were held at 1 p.m., Monday, Jan. 2, 2023, at Saint Paul United Methodist Church in Roxie with Pastor Mary Hamberlin officiating.

Interment was in the Old Sixteen Cemetery.

Visitation was held from 3 to 5 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 31, 2022, at the Lighthouse Center in Meadville and from noon until the time of service on Monday, Jan. 2 at the church.

She was born to John Wesley Shorts and Lou Ella Bradford Shorts on Aug. 4, 1934, in Meadville, and passed away on Sunday, Dec. 18, 2022, at Meadville Convalescent Home.

Affectionately known as Mother Geneva “Tee,” she was preceded in death by her parents; her son; her grandson; her great-granddaughter; and 10 siblings.

Survivors include her daughter, Julie Ann Weathersby; her daughter-in-love, Shirley Mae Hunt Brown; her nine grandchildren; her 20 great-grandchildren; her 25 great-great-grandchildren; her two sisters, Augustine Holloway and Jessie Peterson; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
