Vonceil Magee Smith

Graveside funeral services for Vonceil Magee Smith, 89, of Franklin County’s McCall Creek community, were held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 29, 2022, with Brother Travis Touchstone officiating.

A short graveside visitation was held prior to the service.

She was born to Stevie and Josie Magee on April 1, 1933, in Franklin County, and passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2022, at her home.

Mrs. Smith was a member of McCall Creek Church of God and was involved in the music program.

She worked for many years as a Franklin County Elementary School teacher and enjoyed music, teaching piano and singing.  

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.

She was preceded in death her parents; her husband of 60 years, the Rev. Marshall Kenneth Smith; her sister, Pauline Jackson; and her brothers, David Magee, S.E. Magee and Othel Magee.

Survivors include her son, Kenneth Smith Jr., of Fort Worth, Texas; her sister, Elaine Arnold of McCall Creek; her brother, Charles Magee of McCall Creek; her grandchildren, Taylor Smith of Starkville, Kelly Smith of Brandon and William Smith of Starkville; her great-grandchildren, Sage Smith of Starkville and Riley Badon of Brandon; and a host of family and friends.
