JROTC's 'Haunted Armory' event slated Oct. 27-28

Franklin County High School’s Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps’ Bulldog Battalion program has announced plans to host its two-night “Haunted Armory” fund-raiser on Thursday, Oct. 27 and Friday, Oct. 28.

Held at the historic former National Guard Armory on Main Street in downtown Meadville, the gathering promises guests will be entertained — and frightened — as JROTC cadets once again host the popular Halloween-related activity.

Instructor Marjorie De La Garza said this year’s fund-raiser will feature two distinct versions — with Thursday’s gathering a little milder for those who are more timid.

“Friday night will be our full-scare night with all the sounds and effects,” she continued.

“The cost to enter Thursday’s event will be $7 while Friday’s admission fee will be $10.”

In addition, snacks and drinks will be sold both nights with soft drinks and water offered for $1; chips and candies for $1.50; and other items at various prices.

As is the case with most haunted venues, De La Garza reminds potential participants that loud noises, strobe lights and other visual and audio effects will be used.

“If you suffer from a medical condition where these elements might exacerbate any related symptoms, please exercise caution in attending this adventure,” she said.

Additionally, those going through the haunted armory attraction are encouraged to exit after completing their visit to allow for people to more easily access and leave the building.
