FCHS preps for homecoming celebration

Franklin County High School has announced plans for its annual homecoming celebration to be held the week of Monday, Sept. 19 through Friday, Sept. 23.
The theme for this year’s festivities is “Battle With The Bulldogs” and will feature dress-up days for students to help build school spirit.
Planned activities are scheduled to include:
• “Athletes vs. Mathletes” on Monday, Sept. 19 where students will don their favorite athletic or nerd attire.
• “Country vs. Preppy” on Tuesday, Sept. 20 with students invited to dress in western or preppy clothing.
• “Old vs. New” on Wednesday, Sept. 21 as students will wear attire from the 1970s through the 1990s or flash to the future in the 2000s.
• “Night In vs. Night Out” on Thursday, Sept. 22 with favorite gala attire or pajamas permitted.
• “Bulldogs vs. Trojans” on Friday, Sept. 23 as students are encouraged to wear their blue, gold and white to support the Bulldogs.
The FCHS homecoming parade is scheduled to take place on Thursday, Sept. 22 in downtown Meadville’s business district.
Line-up for the parade will take place in the circular parking lot in front of the school beginning at 4:45 p.m. The procession will roll promptly at 5:30 p.m., with floats and vehicles along with presentations by the Pride of Franklin County Marching Band and the Junior ROTC.
On Friday, Sept. 23, FC’s varsity football team will host the Amite County Trojans at Louie Mullins Memorial Stadium with kickoff for the contest slated at 7:30 p.m.
In conjunction with the football game, the FCHS 2022 homecoming court and their escorts will be presented.
Members of this year’s court include:
• Freshmen Maids — Kaylen Middleton and Kailyn Washington.
• Sophomore Maids — Aniyah Bee, Moriah Hockett and Mackenzie Starks.
• Junior Maids — Da’Shara Hannon and Sadye Scott.
• JROTC Maid — Savannah Cothren.
• Senior Maids — Makia Bonds, Ja’Kya Brown and Shamara Stewart.
• Football Maid — Ay’kiera Jackson.
• Princess — Lillian Hutto.
• Queen — Gabrielle O’Quinn.
The homecoming court will be announced during halftime festivities, according to FCHS Principal Lisa Storey.
