Funeral services for Louise Rushing Buckles (Cox), 87, of Natchez, were held at 2 p.m., Friday, Sept. 9, 2022, at Springfield Baptist Church in Natchez with the Rev. Michael Townsend officiating.
Interment was in the church cemetery.
Visitation was held from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 8, 2022, and from noon until the time of service on Friday, Sept. 9 at the church.
Affectionately known as “Granny Lou,” she was born to Willie Rushing and Willie Juanita Burr Rushing on Nov. 13, 1934, in Franklin County’s McCall Creek community, and passed away on Monday, Sept. 5, 2022, at her Natchez residence.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leon Cox; her daughter, Juanita Joe Guice; her two sons, Richard Allen Cox and Tony Leon Cox Jr.; and her four sisters, Carece Cox, Margie Cole, Susie Boles and Nancy Rushing.
Survivors include her two daughters, Cathy Warren and her husband, Robert, and Jodette Stevens and her husband, Charlie; her two sons, Ralph Cox and his wife, Dianne, and Johnny Guice; her two sisters, Dianne Rushing and Elaine Davis; her special pastor friend, Michael Townsend; her 11 grandchildren; her 34 great-grandchildren; her seven great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
