RIDGELAND — Franklin County Middle School’s volleyball team cruised to straight-set victories — 25-15 and 25-17 — over Saint Andrews on the road Thursday, Sept. 8.

The undefeated Lady Bulldogs have won eight straight during their campaign dating back to Aug. 5.

FCMS opened with a pair of wins at Salem to begin the season and has beaten Alexander Junior High of Brookhaven and McComb twice. The squad has also claimed wins against district foes Port Gibson and Saint Andrews.

In the first set, Savannah Emfinger proved to be the offensive spark plug for the Lady Bulldogs with six service points in a row with Aubrey Windom and Isabella Hill both adding three while Kaleigh King, Jhalayah Tillman and Kaydence McCaa recording one each.

Eight of Saint Andrews’ points came offensively while seven resulted from FC turnovers.

The final set again saw Emfinger pacing FC with five service points and Tillman contributing the final four points in a row in the outing.

Windom recorded three points while Kaylee Weadock scored two and Alyssa Yates added one.

Again, Saint Andrews had eight service points with nine on their side of the tally sheet generated by turnovers.

Remaining on the schedule was a rematch against Saint Andrews on Tuesday, Sept. 13, but results of that contest were not available at press time. A game recap will appear in the next edition of The Franklin Advocate.

The FCMS volleyball team’s slate also includes three more games — playing at Port Gibson on Tuesday, Sept. 27; on the road at Tylertown on Thursday, Sept. 29; and at home to close out the season against Tylertown on Thursday, Oct. 6.
