Funeral services for Judy Carol Cupit Smith, 71, of Denham Springs, La., were held at 1 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 11, 2022, at Riverwood Family Funeral Services in Brookhaven with the Rev. Tom Higginbotham officiating.
Interment was in the New Salem Baptist Church Cemetery in Franklin County’s McCall Creek community.
Visitation was held from 5 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2022, and from 11 a.m., until the time of service on Thursday, Aug. 11 at the funeral home
Ms. Smith was born to Thomas Eli Cupit and Ammie Burris Cupit on May 28, 1951, in Franklin County, and passed away at Baton Rouge (La.) General-Bluebonnet Hospital on Saturday, Aug. 6, 2022.
She was a faithful and long-time member of Don Avenue Baptist Church in Denham Springs.
She loved doing for others, baking cakes, spending time on the phone talking to friends and family, reading obituaries from the Denham Springs and Franklin County areas, but mostly just loving on her two grandchildren.
She was also a transport driver for Lake Sherwood Village Retirement Community.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Clayton Cupit; her sisters, Claudell Jones and Doris Dillon; and an infant sister.
Survivors include her children, Greg Smith and his wife, Kristy, and Stephanie Smith; her grandchildren, Jack Smith and Avery Watts; her two brothers, Tommy Cupit and his wife, Sharon, and W.L. Cupit and his wife, Donna; her sister, Nina Dale Golman and her husband, Kenny Bob; her sister-in-law, Shirley Cupit; and her brother-in-law, Harold Dillon.
Pallbearers were Kenny Bob Golman, David Golman, Jason Golman, John Jones and Bruce Lindley.
Honorary pallbearers were Jack Smith and Gary Shaffer.
The family extends a special thank you to the staff at Baton Rouge General, M.D. Anderson and Mary Bird Perkins.
In her memory, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or Lymphoma Myeloma Society.
