FCMS volleyball opens season with early wins
Franklin County Middle School’s volleyball team has started its 2022 campaign with wins — the latest coming Thursday, Aug. 11 in Brookhaven against Alexander Junior High School.
At AJH, the Lady Bulldogs took the first set, 25-15, before falling in the second, 24-26; and rebounding for a dramatic 15-13 victory in the deciding set.
FC’s Kayleigh King excelled in the first set with 10-straight service points while Emma Claire Stebbins added six.
King paced the second set with five points with Savannah Emfinger adding four and Isabella Hill chipping in two.
The final set saw Hill lead with six service points and two aces while King added three, Emfinger had two and Aubrey Windom tacked on one.
The FCMS Lady Dawgs won twice in a road trip to Salem on Friday, Aug. 5 for a 3-0 mark on the new season.
The squad was scheduled to play at McComb on Thursday, Aug. 18 before facing Port Gibson at home on Tuesday, Aug. 23.
The Lady Bulldogs are also slated to host McComb on Monday, Aug. 29.
