FREE CONTENT — Brun Ban implemented on Thursday
October 15, 2026
Franklin County Emergency Management Agency Director Mark Thornton announced on Thursday that all of Franklin County has been placed under a burn ban.
The ban was issued Thursday due to extremely dry conditions. This applies to all outdoor burning of trash, vegetative debris and other items.
Those residents who are grilling or cooking out should take extra precautions and make sure that ashes from grills and smokers are fully cooled before being disposed of. It is recommended that ashes be cooled down and placed in a metal container.
The burn ban is in effect from Thursday, Oct. 15 through Sunday, Nov. 15. It could be extended at that time based on weather conditions over the next month as much of the Southeast remains in very dry conditions.
