Funeral services for Buckey Morris Jones, 82, of Smithdale’s Thompson community, were held at 11 a.m., Friday, June 3, 2022, at Thompson Baptist Church with the Rev. Jim Bradford officiating.

Interment was in the Thompson Cemetery.

Visitation was held from 5 to 9 p.m., Thursday, June 2, 2022, and from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Friday, June 3 at the church.

Mr. Jones was born to John “J.F.” Franklin and Ava Earl Gatlin Jones on May 27, 1940, and passed away on Monday, May 30, 2022, at his residence.

He was preceded in death by his wives, Linda Ray Armstrong Jones, who died in 1999, and Barbara Cunningham Agent Jones, who passed away in 2017.

Survivors include his sister, Shirley Hazlewood; his four daughters, Amy (Brad) Bean, Ava (Charles) Warren, Amanda (Gray) Tollison and Ashley (Jim) Chappelear; two step-sons, Henry (Lisa) Agent and Rush (Allison) Agent; his grandchildren, Austin (Kayla) Bean, Tyler Bean, Bryce (Kimberly) Bean, Chase (Charley) Warren, Reid Warren, Grady Tollison, Laurel Tollison, Gabe Garner, Molly Garner, Lindan Garner and Tanner Chappelear, Griffin, Luke and Taylor Agent, Emma and Miles Agent; his great-grandchildren, Amelia and Kenna Bradley Bean, and Kaiden and Raelyn Bean; three nieces; two nephews; the children of his sisters, Jo and Shirley; his sister-in-law, Becky Hiter; and a number of great-nieces and great-nephews.
