Co-Lin plans summer youth camps

WESSON – Copiah-Lincoln Community College has announced plans for a series of summer camps, including football, softball and pee wee cheerleading, geared toward youth in the region throughout June.

Here is a summary of planned activities:

• Youth Football Camp. The program, open to young people between the ages of 5 and 13, will be held on Wednesday, June 1 and Thursday, June 2.

Registration will take place at the entrance of Pitts Field Houses at the north end of the Co-Lin football field between 7:30 and 8:30 a.m., on Wednesday, June 1.

A registration form is available online and can be returned with the program fee during on-site sign-up.

The $85 participation cost includes two days of instruction along with insurance and a camp T-shirt.

The program will be held from 8:30 a.m., to noon both days, and all campers must be picked up at noon both days.

Participants are asked to wear T-shirts, cleats, shorts, socks and/or tennis shoes to the workout sessions.

• Softball Kids Camp. The program, open to youth in kindergarten through sixth grade, will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on Monday, June 6 and Tuesday, June 7 at the Co-Lin softball field.

The cost of the camp is $80 per participant with those taking part asked to bring their helmet, glove, bat, cleats and tennis shoes.

• Pee Wee Cheer Camp. The program, for youth ages 4 to 9, will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on Thursday, June 16 and Friday, June 17.

This basic camp, overseen by the Co-Lin cheerleaders, will feature beginning techniques and some fun things participants can do with those taking part divided by grade and ability.

A small production is planned at the end of the second day of camp.

The cost to participate is $45 per enrollee and registration must be completed no later than Friday, June 10.
