Funeral services for Walter Edward Youngblood, 95, will be at 9 a.m. on
Friday, Oct. 24, 2025 from Meadville Methodist church. Visitation will
be from 9 a.m. until time of service at the church. A graveside service
will be conducted at 1 p.m. from Union Church Cemetery.

He was born near Union Church in Jefferson County, where he lived all
his 95 years other than those spent in college and the Army. The ninth
of 10 children born to William Frank and Alice Cammack Youngblood, his
life was defined by love of family, land and the church.

He attended what is now Co-Lin Community College and Mississippi State
University, graduating there with a degree in Animal Science.

During the Korean War, he was stationed with his Mississippi National
Guard unit at Fort Jackson, S.C. For many years, Ed raised cattle with
his brother Claude on the family farm and worked the night shift at the
Texas Eastern Pipeline Station in Union Church. He was renowned for his
gardens and his cornbread.

In 1971, he married Betty Elaine Dyess of Laurel, with whom he created a
home filled with love, family and service to Christ and his church. As
faithful members of the Methodist Church in Meadville, they bore witness
to their love for Christ. Their home was a gathering place for the
extended Youngblood family, with generations of in-laws, nieces and
nephews relishing visits to "the farm" and the attention of "Uncle Ed."

He died on Monday, Oct. 20, 2025 at Franklin County Memorial Hospital in
Meadville.

He is survived by two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren,
sisters-in-law, Wilma Dyess Crosby of Baton Rouge, La., and Ollie Mae
Youngblood of Brookhaven, a host of nephews and nieces and his faithful
German Shepherd companion, Dozier.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his nine siblings, his daughter
