The Adams County Sheriff's Department is assisting in the search for a suspect wanted in the Saturday morning shooting in Franklin County.

Officials in both counties are searching for Roeland Williams, 24, as an arrest warrant was issued for him in Franklin County Saturday. He is wanted in the shooting incident that left one person — 26-year-old John Lee Starks III — dead, another victim with critical life-threatening injuries and another with non-life threatening injuries.

According to Franklin County Sheriff Tom Tindle, deputies responded to a report of a shooting on Mildred Davis Road about 1;30 Saturday morning.

Starks was pronounced dead. Another victim suffered critical life threatening injuries while another was also injured with both being transported to a medical facility.

Saturday evening, Adams County Sheriff Travis Patten said his department was assisting in the search as it was indicated that Williams had been staying in the Natchez and Adams County area. The suspect is a resident of Franklin County.

The public is being urged not to make contact with the suspect but instead to call local law enforcement.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Williams is asked to contact the Franklin County Sheriff's Department at 601-384-2323, call 911 or contact Southwest Mississippi Crime Stoppers at 888-442-5000.
