LESLIE WILLENA SCOTT
March 16, 1930-Sept. 28, 2025
A celebration of life service for Leslie Willena Scott, 95, of 
Meadville, was conducted on Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2025 from Pleasant Valley 
Baptist Church.
Interment followed at the church cemetery.
Born in Quentin on March 16, 1930 to Thomas Jefferson Scott, Jr., and 
Lois Elizabeth Murray Scott, "Aunt Winnie" loved 
four-part/three-part harmony Gospel music. She loved to cook and share 
her goodies with others. She enjoyed having a close-cut yard and doing 
her own yard work.
She died on Sunday, Sept. 28, 2025 at King's Daughters Medical Center.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, Artie Scott; a host of niece and 
nephews and every member of Pleasant Valley Church, who she loved 
dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother and 
sisters-in-law, Sherrod and Laferrye Scott, Earnest and Marjorie Scott, 
A.J. and Emily Scott, John and Helen Scott and Thomas "Dude" Scott; 
her sisters and brothers-in-law, Frances and Truly Flowers, Rachel and 
Claudie Buckles, Janette and Barney Smith and Aline Scott, who passed 
away at 6 years of age.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Pleasant Valley Baptist 
Church General Fund.
The family would like to thank her caretakers — Barbara Tuttle, Sheila 
Dover, Darla Nash, Mike Smallwood and Matt Smallwood — for their 
compassionate care.

SYRETHA "TISH" SIMPSON
April 24, 1939-Sept. 25, 2025
Funeral services for Syretha "Tish" Simpson, 86, of Meadville, were 
conducted on Monday, Sept. 29, 2025 from Praise Cathedral Church of God 
in Meadville, with Rev. Greg Arnold and Rev. Lee Miley officiating.
Interment followed at Byrd's Chapel Cemetery in Meadville.
Born on April 24, 1939 to Clyde and Toye Beatty in Kipley, she was a 
member of Praise Cathedral Church of God in Meadville.
She died at her home on Thursday, Sept. 25, 2025.
She is survived by her daughter, Anita S. Ferguson of Meadville; her 
son, John H. Simpson, Jr., of New Iberia, La. She was a loving 
grandmother to seven grandchildren and their respective spouses, Lee and 
Trudy Ferguson, Lisa and Michael Robinson, Jessica and Tucker Elkins, 
John and Courtney Ferguson, Jodie and Ron Jorde, John Michael Simpson 
and Lori Simpson; 13 great-grandchildren (with one on the way) and their 
respective spouses, Kara and Kaleb Krus, Kylie Robinson, Emily Robinson, 
Dylan Robinson, Austin Elkins, Presley Elkins, Eden Ferguson, Henry 
Ferguson, Stevie Ferguson, Chase Scandurro, Sophie and Jacob Loupe, 
Jonathan Lanassa and Jacob Lanassa; two great-great-grandchildren, Kade 
Krus and Oliver Lanassa; and her wonderful church family, whom she loved 
very much.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Henry 
Simpson, Sr.; her son-in-law, Donald Ferguson; her daughter-in-law, 
Joann Simpson; and her special friend, Letha Simpson.

Graveside services for Robert Alford Peeples, 75, of Bude, were 
conducted on Monday, Sept. 29, 2025 from Midway Cemetery, with Brother 
Timothy Touchstone officiating.
Born on Feb. 20, 1950 in Water Valley, he was the son of Loyd Peeples 
and Chessie Laverne Kelly-Peeples.
He died on Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2025 at his residence, surrounded by his 
loved ones.
He is survived by his wife, Celia Elaine Peeples; his daughters and 
sons-in-law, Sandy Yvette and Chris Dunaway of Brookhaven and Kristan 
Ciji and Michael Winslow of Virginia Beach, Va.; a son and 
daughter-in-law, Robert Alford and Stephanie Peeples, Jr., of 
Brookhaven; his sister, Ruth Turner of Gulfport; his sister-in-law, 
Annette Peeples of Vicksburg; three grandchildren, Rusty Peeples, Dusti 
Coleman and Anna Dunaway; three great-grandchildren, John Wayne Temple, 
Madison Dunaway and Ely Peeples; and a host of nieces, nephews and other 
relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester Loyd Peeples and 
Chessie Laverne Kelly-Peeples; and his siblings, Sherai Peeples, Glyn 
Peeples, Harold Peeples and Lathern Peeples.
Pallbearers were Rusty Peeples, Andy Turner, Bobby Turner, Ches Peeples, 
Duthc Peeples and Michael Winslow.

Funeral services for Louise Halford Combs, 80, were conducted on 
Saturday, Sept. 27, 2025 from Roxie Baptist Church in Roxie, with Dr. 
Darby Combs officiating.
Interment followed at Roxie Cemetery.
Born in Franklin County on Aug. 27, 1945 to Wesley Halford and Helen 
Louise Rollins Halford, she died on Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2025 at King's 
Daughters Medical Center with her loving family by her side.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Gerald Combs; a son and 
daughter-in-law, Darby and Becky Combs; a daughter and son-in-law, Debi 
Combs and Dean Wallace; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Maxine and 
James Buie, Doris and John Foy and Bonnie McGeever; her grandchildren 
and their respective spouses, Joey and Camilla, Ashley and Blake and 
Rachel; her great-grandchildren, Allie and Dmitri; her brothers-in-law, 
Lavon and Peggy Combs and Ernie Platt; her sister-in-law, Peggy and Pat 
McCullough and a host of family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Gerald Combs, Jr.; her 
brother, James Wesley Halford; and her sister, Pollye Platt.
Pallbearers were Chris Combs, Garrick Combs, Joey Combs, Casey Foy, 
Keith Whitehead and Will Hutchins. Honorary pallbearers were Tommy 
Combs, Lavon Combs and Wayne Combs.

Funeral services for Barbara Osborne, 80, of Natchitoches, La., were 
conducted on Thursday, Sept. 25, 2025 from Sarepta Baptist Church, with

Born on Nov. 8, 1944 in Opelousas, La., to Earnest Aaron Childers and 
Lois Lessie Childers Gintch, she died on Sunday, Sept. 21, 2025.
She is survived by her daughter, Tammy Renee' Thompson; her son and 
daughter-in-law, Jerry "Sonny" Louis and Cathy Thompson, Jr.; her 
grandchildren and their respective spouses, Heather Michelle and Jessica 
Havard, Shelby Leigh and Dylan Jones, William Cade and Erica Havard, 
Jerry Louis "Trey" and Starr Thompson III and Christopher Lee 
Thompson; her great-grandchildren, Jordan Haylan Jones, Daxton Reese 
Lambert, Stella Rae Thompson, Rylee Maisyn Havard, Amelia Rose Jones, 
Hensley Diane Thompson, Addision Brook Thompson and expecting soon baby 
Grayson Louis Thompson and baby Kamryn Ann Havard.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Earnest Childers; 
her husbands, Sam Floyd Osborne and Louis Thompson; her sister, Alleen 
Dallalio; and her brother, Aaron Childers.
Pallbearers were Cade Havard, Trey Thompson, Christopher Thompson, Matt 
Smith, Paul Delasalle and Korbin Gallien. Honorary pallbearers were 
Hermon Osborne, Bill Arnold and Tommy Wilson.
