Dorothy Whittington

Funeral services for Dorothy Whittington, 87, a resident of Brookhaven and formerly of Smithdale, were held at 11 a.m., Friday, April 1, 2022, at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Smithdale with the Rev. Cletus Moak, the Rev. Lonnie Case and Brother Emory May officiating.

Interment followed in the Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation was held from 5 to 8 p.m., Thursday, March 31, 2022, at Hartman-Jones Funeral Home in McComb and from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Friday, April 1 at the church.

Mrs. Whittington was born to Collis Whittington and Annie Pearl Whittington on May 30, 1934, in Amite County, and passed way on Tuesday, March 29, 2022, at Diversicare Nursing Home in Brookhaven. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Margaret Whittington; and two brothers, Luther Whittington and Harold Whittington.

Survivors include her sons Michael McKenzie (Yevgeniya) of Smithdale, and Lamar McKenzie (Vicky) of Summit; her daughter, Teresa Sanford (Jamie) of Purvis; her 15 grandchildren; her 19 great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and a host of friends.
