Piano presented to Bude Community Foundation

The Bude Community Foundation has received an exciting donation — in the form of a baby grand piano.
“The foundation had what we inherited with the church, which was a lot of wonderful stuff, but this piano is going to allow there to be beautiful music played for the members of the community,” Ray Carlock, a member of the BCF Board, said of the donation.
“We’re just ecstatic about this. It’s a much better piano than what we had, so when we do have guests there and we do have people playing, it’s going to really make for a fantastic addition to the things that we can do to support the community.”
The piano was donated by Mike Land in memory of his wife, Victoria Land.
“We inherited (the piano) from my wife’s mother, Fenncile Arrington,” Land said.
“We’d had it over the years and my girls had played it, then we had all moved to different houses and did not really have a place for it. I wanted to find somebody that could make good use of it.
“I wanted it to continue to be played. A friend of mine, Larry Wallace, told me about (the Bude Community Foundation) and made contact with them.”
According to Marsha Webb, who serves as BCF programs coordinator, the piano will be put to good use very soon as the foundation will host a gospel singing at 4 p.m., Saturday, April 3.
Groups scheduled to perform will include Linda Green with the Spread Love Gospel Singers from Joy Tabernacle Holiness Ministries; Evelyn Higgins and Flight Crew; Mount Olive; New Jerusalem; St. Paul; and Larry Wallace and Friends.
Carlock said the foundation hopes to hold more gospel singings in the future if the community has a positive turnout for the upcoming event.
