The Rev. Joe K. Hill

Funeral services for the Rev. Joe K. Hill, 87, of Jackson, were held at 2 p.m., Thursday, March 17, 2022, at Lakewood Funeral Home in Jackson.

Interment followed in Lakewood Memorial Park.

Visitation was held from 1 p.m. until the time of service on Thursday, March 17 at Lakewood Funeral Home.

The Rev. Hill was born June 23, 1934, in Meadville, and passed away on Monday, March 14, 2022, at The Mississippi State Veterans Home in Jackson.

He was a graduate of Meadville High School and served in the U.S. Army in Germany. After his service, Hill enrolled at Mississippi College where he earned a degree in Bible and School Administration.

As a bi-vocational minister, he was involved with numerous churches while working in school administration across the state.

Prior to his retirement, he also served as Director of Missions in Franklin County for six years.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Jo-Ann Temple Hill; his daughter, Ann Tynes and her husband, Thomas; his grandsons, Thomas Tynes III and his wife, Frances, and Brandon Tynes and his wife, Lindsay; and his three great-grandchildren, Kathryn Tynes, Caroline Tynes and Nolan Tynes.

The family suggests memorials be made to Gideons International.
