Praise Cathedral set to rededicate sanctuary on March 6

Less than a year after a fire damaged its sanctuary, Praise Cathedral Church of God in Meadville has announced plans to rededicate its worship building on Sunday, March 6, according to Pastor Larry Edwards.
The community celebration is slated to begin at 10:50 a.m., with the church’s former pastor, the Rev. Lee Miley, set to serve as the featured speaker.
In addition, a fellowship luncheon will take place following the service.
On Tuesday, April 13, 2021, the blaze caused damage to the sanctuary and forced the postponement of a planned 25th year anniversary celebration five days later that had been slated for the church facilities, which are located at 940 Mississippi Highway 556 near the Meadville corporate limits.
The fire was reportedly traced to wiring behind a display cross under the roof line on front of the building, with the heat from the flames scorching the church’s metal roofing surrounding the familiar steeple visible from nearby U.S. Highway 84.
The building also sustained some smoke and water damage inside as a result of the blaze.
In the weeks and months that followed, the church family worked to repair the damage from the fire and most recently took delivery of the chairs — after some delays — for the building.
Edwards said next weekend’s services will begin with Sunday School, which will be held at 10 a.m.
