FC hoopsters pound Wildcats in 67-43 win

Franklin County dominated offensively in three of the four quarters it played at home against Wilkinson County on Tuesday, Jan. 25 and claimed a 67-43 win.

The Dawgs outscored the visiting Wildcats, 18-6, in the first quarter and 17-11 in the second stanza to hold a 35-17 advantage at the mid-game break.

Wilkinson County battled to a 17-15 scoring finish to begin the second half, but FC went on a 17-9 tear in the final eight minutes of regulation to seal the victory.

A trio of Bulldogs finished the night in double-figures on the tally sheet — Kobe Marshall had 20 points with four three-pointers while Daylen Thomas recorded 19 and Caleibria McDonald finished with 12.

Others contributing to FC’s win were Michael Covington and Amarion Wilson with six points apiece while Derrick Wilson and Iverson Hughes contributed two each.

The Dawgs shot 9-of-24 from the free throw line — 37.5 percent — against the Wildcats in the contest.

Wilkinson County was led by Cameron Woodard, who scored a game-high 24 points.

The Cats were 5-of-12 — 41.6 percent — from the charity stripe.
FC has beaten Wilkinson County, a 7-3A regional foe, two times this basketball season with the previous 62-42 win coming back on Friday, Jan. 7 on the road.
