Jackey Fortenberry, right, chairman of and professor in Alcorn State University's Military Sciences Department, administered a ceremonial enlistment oath of office to four Franklin County High School Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps cadets, (from left) Arthur Atterberry, Matthew Franklin, Ayden Harrell and Savannah Cothren, who have announced plans to join the military following graduation. The four students have committed to become part of the University of Southern Mississippi's Golden Eagle Battalion to further their careers through the Hattiesburg institution's ROTC program.
