Funeral services for James E. Pilgrim, 83, of Roxie, were held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2021, at Franklin Funeral Home in Meadville with the Rev. Jamie Wallace and the Rev. Tyson Windom officiating.
Interment was in Franklin County’s Midway Cemetery.
Visitation was held from noon until the time of service on Wednesday, Sept. 22 at Franklin Funeral Home.
Mr. Pilgrim was born to Jim Golden Pilgrim and Ella Mae Breland Pilgrim on Jan. 6, 1938, in House, and passed from this life on Saturday, Sept. 18, 2021, at Merit Health Vicksburg.
He enjoyed driving trucks, fishing, working in his yard and spending time with his loving wife and family.
He was a loving husband, brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and wonderful friend.
Preceding Mr. Pilgrim in death were his parents; his wife, Barbara Jean Pilgrim; his brothers, Wesley Eugene “Billy” Pilgrim, Prentiss Ray Pilgrim and Joe Bob Pilgrim.
Survivors include his daughter, Gloria Tyler, of Melder, La.; his sons, James David Pilgrim and wife, Amelia, of Roxie, Jim Pilgrim and wife, Penny, of Columbus and Richard Pilgrim and wife, Lisa, of Tioga, La.; his sisters, Mavis Tyson and husband, Lynn, of Lena, Mittie Barfoot and husband, Bob, of Pearl and Jimmie Lynn Atkinson and husband, Jimmy Joe, of Morton; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.
Pallbearers were Buster Pilgrim, Jonny Pilgrim, Chris Stokes, Mike Pilgrim, the Rev. Calvin Wactor and Derek Jones.
Honorary pallbearers were Second Lt. Payton Pilgrim, Dakota McCarthy, Charlie Pilgrim, Vince Romero, Jesse Pilgrim, Michael Tavarez and Rob Tyler.
