Private graveside services for Hellon L. Monroe, 82, of Meadville, were held Saturday, Aug. 21, 2021, at Midway Cemetery in Meadville with the Rev. Tony Mullins officiating.
She was born to James Monroe Lee and Nancy Viola Roberts Lee on July 12, 1939, in Franklin County’s Eddiceton community, and passed from this life on Friday, Aug. 13, 2021, at her son’s residence in Brandon.
Mrs. Monroe enjoyed her family, gardening, golfing, traveling and gathering with God’s people at Hopewell Baptist Church and Meadville Presbyterian Church.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Johnny Monroe; her son, Robin Wentworth; her sister, Lucille Woodcock; and her brothers, A.J. Lee and infant brother Samuel Lee.
Survivors include her two sons, Steve Wentworth (Mary) and Stuart Wentworth (Dianne); her step-son, Johnny Monroe Jr. (Patti); her grandchildren, Elissa Roberts (Matt), Taylor Wentworth (Laken), Brittany Wentworth (Kelli), Alexandra Wentworth, Grace King (Drew), Elizabeth Wentworth, Johanna Jones (Matt), Gabe Monroe (Christine) and Hannah Monroe; 18 great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.
Pallbearers were Taylor Wentworth, Matt Roberts, Drew King, Vance Woodcock, Vince Woodcock, Heath Woodcock, Wade Woodcock, Gabe Monroe and Brian Emory.
The family request memorials be made in her name to Hopewell Baptist Church or Meadville Presbyterian Church.
