Celebration of life services for Thomas David Rushing, 66, of Meadville, were held at 2 p.m., Sunday, July 18, 2021, at Franklin Funeral Home in Meadville with Pastor Bascom Sills officiating.
Interment was in the Adams Hegan Pate Cemetery in Meadville.
Visitation was held from 1 p.m., until the time of service on Sunday, July 18 at Franklin Funeral Home.
Mr. Rushing was born to George Washington Rushing and Lois Pate Rushing on June 21, 1955, in Natchez, and went to be with the Lord and entered into his heavenly home on Wednesday, July 14, 2021, at Promise Hospital in Vicksburg.
He was a 1973 graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School and the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg with a degree in education.
He worked for Franklin Timber Co., for many years and was a teacher at numerous schools. He was an avid outdoorsman, firearms enthusiast and animal lover.
Mr. Rushing was preceded in death by his parents; and his sisters, Marie Harrell and Joyce Ann Holmes.
He is survived by his son, Jason Rushing; his daughter, Amy Cox (Ashley); his brother, George Alton Rushing (Elizabeth); his grandsons, Kolby Cox and Will Cox; the mother of his children, Louise Finley; and many beloved nephews and nieces.
Pallbearers were Alan Rushing, Bobby Harrell, Johnny Holmes, Greg Roberts, Scott Magee and Lynn Oglesby.
Honorary pallbearers were Kolby Cox, Will Cox, Conn McCalip, Caleb Fairley, Ryan Rushing, Tucker Roberts, Conner Harrell, Steven Trude, Danny Oglesby, William Keith and Dru Godfrey.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks memorial donations be made to any local Humane Society organization.
