FC COVID-19 cases rise by three in past week

Franklin County’s cumulative number of COVID-19 cases rose by only three within the past week, according the Mississippi Department of Health.

The county has seen 849 cases of the illness since the beginning of the pandemic in March, 2020.

No new variant cases were reported locally during the past week, with the total number of strains of coronavirus remaining at six – all of them the B.1.1.7 United Kingdom variety.

The county also did not see any new deaths related to the coronavirus within the past week.

A total of 23 coronavirus-related deaths have been reported since the pandemic began.

Throughout Mississippi, the total cumulative number of coronavirus cases stood at 318,578, with 7,343 deaths attributed to the illness.

An estimated 309,178 residents are presumed to have recovered from COVID-19.
