Julus Randolph “Randy” Thornton, 66, passed away Monday, Jan. 18, 2021.
The family received friends at Sellars Funeral Home in Lebanon, Tenn., from 4 to 8 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 21, 2021.
Local visitation was held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 23, 2021, at Franklin County’s Siloam Baptist Church with funeral services following at 1 p.m., Saturday at the church.
Mr. Thornton was born to Carolyn and Julus Thornton in Luling, La., on March 13, 1954.
He grew up in Franklin County.
He had his own glass repair business, and was a member of the Church of God.
Mr. Thonton loved his family and friends, fishing and hunting and Pine Knott Baseball — a team he played for and coached.
He loved to watch his children, and especially his grandchildren, play ball in person and on Facebook Live.
Mr. Thornton was survived by his wife of 24 years, Patricia Ashley Thornton; his children, Brad (Marcie) Thornton, Stacy (Casey) Wagoner, Emily (Matt) Wiggins, and Latoya (Chris) Lackey; his grandchildren, Jordan (Harley) Clark, Caylen (Lloyd) Caldwell, Kason Clark, Autumn Thornton, Christopher Lackey Jr., Rankin Wiggins, Laken Roberts and Rhett Wiggins; his brother, Mark (Millie) Thornton; his sisters, Vanessa (Ronnie) Shelton and Joanna Ashmore; his nephews and nieces, Timmy (Danielle) Shelton, Joey Shelton, Jessica Thornton, Jennifer Thornton, Jonathan (Mia) Thornton, Brianna (Will) Walker and Austin Ashmore.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and an infant brother, Ronald Ed Thornton.
The family suggests memorial donations in Mr. Thornton’s name be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
Sellars Funeral Home of Lebanon, Tenn., was in charge of arrangements.
