Dorothy “Dottie” Roberts, 77, of Eddiceton, passed from this life on Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2020, at Haven Hall Healthcare Center in Brookhaven.
She was born Sept. 9, 1942, in Eddiceton, to John Martin Watson and LeNelle Tarver Watson.
She was a retired teacher from Franklin Junior High School in Meadville.
Roberts was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Meadville. She loved her children, grandchildren and great grand-children as well as her many nieces and nephews.
She was a loving mother, grandmother and sister, and will be missed by many both near and far.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Martin and Nell Watson; one sister, Marjorie Dunn; two brothers, Royce Watson and John Watson; and one grandson, Mitch Mitchell, all of Eddiceton.
Survivors include one son, Jerome Ellsworth and wife, Tonya, of Smithdale; one daughter, Michelle Roberts and fiance, Jonathan Wilbourn, of Calera, Ala.; two granddaughters, Hope Brister Johnson and husband, Luke, of Bogue Chitto, and Adrian Ellsworth Newell and husband, Evan, of Meadville; one grandson, Garrett Ellsworth of Smithdale; one great-granddaughter, Mary Claire Johnson of Bogue Chitto; two great-grandsons, Maddux Johnson of Bogue Chitto and Cole Newell of Meadville. The family would like extend its sincerest gratitude to her caregiver, Tammy McDaniel of Meadville.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 18, 2020, at New Hope Baptist Church in Meadville with visitation two hours prior to services.
Brother Calvin Wactor and Brother Mike Morris were the officiants.
Mike Huffman read a special poem that he had written specifically to honor Roberts.
Pallbearers included Billy Terrell Jr., Bo McMillan, Clutch Aldridge, Dennis Wallace Jr., Evan Newell, Luke Johnson, Steve Newman and Zane Terrell.
Marshall Funeral Home in Bude was in charge of the services.
