Funeral services for Carolyn Dean “Cookie” McKenzie, 73, of Smithdale, will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2020 from Sharkey Funeral Home in Summit, with Brother Cletus Moak officiating. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 31, 2020 and then continue from 9 a.m. until time of service on Saturday, Feb. 1.
Following the funeral service, interment will take place at Wroten/Carraway Cemetery in Smithdale.
Born on March 8, 1946, she was the daughter of Charlie E. and Donis Wroten Westbrook. A longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church in Smithdale, she was the most selfless person ever. She loved her grandbabies and loved being “MeMe” to them. She also locoed to cook and loves spending time outdoors, working the yard and spending time with O.C. and her family.
She died on Sunday, Jan. 26, 2020 at her residence.
She is survived by her ex-husband and best friend, Ottice C. McKenzie of Smithdale; a son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Angie McKenzie of Smithdale; a daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Chan Thomas of Summitt; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Gene and Anita Westbrook and Bobby and Janice Westbrook, all of Slaughter, La.; a sister and brother-in-law, Lynn and Barney Hart of Lake City, Fla.; four grandchildren and their respective spouses, Nathan and Jessie McKenzie, Steven and Jesica McKenzie, Devin and Cheyenne Sterling and Abigail Thomas; five great-grandchildren, Kilynn McKenzie, Owen McKensie and Kamon and Rylan Graves; and future baby girl Sterling.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
